July is here with us! There are tons of exhilarating occasions to relish in Leeds. There are massive club nights, food festivals, and superb theatre productions you cannot afford to miss. This is just an iceberg tip. Read on to find out the upcoming events in the city. From unforgettable comedy gigs to the exciting theatre, you can make July a month to remember with these forthcoming events in Leeds.

    • World Cup Screenings

Want to watch the biggest football games of 2018 World Cup? Leeds Big Screen will be showing the matches at the Millennium Square. What an unbeatable family atmosphere to be in. Every game going on in Russia will be projected live. The media partner of this event- Heart Yorkshire- will be joining families in friendly competitions. If you are a big supporter of England, ensure that you get to the venue 1.5 hours before every kick-off so as to secure a place- the seats are given on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are no tickets while the outdoor environment will provide toilet facilities as well as picnic-style seats. A number of street food outlets will be available.

    • Wimbledon Screenings

Did you miss a Wimbledon ticket? You can catch up with live action at the Millennium Square on the Big Screen. This area is being designed into Murray Mound with artificial turf, deck seats, and picnic benches that tennis fans love. Since the World Cup is also being screened at the same venues, you might miss some of the tennis matches.

    • Young Filmmakers Screenings

Do you love movies created by the UK youth and children? You and your family have a chance to see live filmmaking. This year’s Golden Owls Young Film Awards will be showing on the big screen this month. Be there when more than 100 young people will be declared winners at the Town Hall. On Saturday 14th July, 10 to 12 films will be submitted by communal forums and more than 14 people will be screened the following day. Recently, more than 350 young people enrolled for the competitions which are organized by Leeds City Council. These competitions are focusing on making the city center a child-friendly environment. Free popcorns will be available to all families watching the screen on Saturday and Sunday from 10 o’clock in the morning. Seats will be secured on a first-come-first-served basis. Benches will be provided too but you can bring a portable seat and cushion; or a blanket if need be.

    • Plan B

On Friday 20 July 2018, the visionary artist Ben Drew, also known as Plan B will be performing as part of the Summer Series of Concerts. Plan B is a renowned actor, producer, writer, and performer whose live shows are always a thrill.  He has a new single- Guess Again- which is already heating the radio airwaves. Ben Drew has been nominated multiple times and won various awards including MTV, Q, Mercury Music Prize, NME, Novello, Mobos, Brits, among others. His film output has earned him critical awards and fame. Two local DJs- Lawrence James and Dan Hills- will bring their distinct mixes as well as the latest anthems to the stage to warm up the long-awaited performance of Plan B.

Tony Hadley

A weekend in Leeds couldn’t be more exciting when a man of the people, Tony Hadley and an eighties star comes on stage. The famous solo artist, radio presenter, and songwriter will bring his unrivaled talent and remarkable stage presence together with a full live band on 21st July. The local Yorkshire soulful groove and ten Millennia funk band will be opening the event.
